What You’ll Take With You (Long After You Leave)

Breathwork Techniques

Techniques to take away beyond your stay in Uluwatu.

Our resident breathwork practitioner, Syddarta Booke, believes in using the breath as a gateway to profound transformation on both physical and mental levels—“by simply practicing our most basic instinct to survive.” Trained and certified in multiple breathing disciplines, he tailors each class to meet participants where they are, adapting the practice to their individual experience and needs.

In his deeply cathartic sessions, you’ll learn how to fast-track yourself into a meditative state through breath alone, unlocking a sense of clarity, release, and renewal. And the benefits extend far beyond the shala: Syddarta’s and our other trained practitioners’ breathwork toolkit equips you with techniques you can integrate into your daily life, helping you restore balance, sharpen focus, and cultivate resilience—tools that empower you to move through life with greater calm, clarity, and vitality.

Contrast Therapy

A Modern Approach to an Ancient Healing Ritual.

At The Asa Maia, we bring contrast therapy to Uluwatu with a contemporary, luxurious twist—through our subterranean pools kept at 7.5°C and 40°C. This centuries-old practice uses the interplay of hot and cold to restore balance, boost circulation, and support recovery.

Guests can enjoy guided contrast therapy sessions with our team every morning, or experience the ritual independently at any time of day—the pools are available 24/7.

The beauty of contrast therapy lies in its simplicity: once you learn the technique, you can take it with you and recreate the practice anywhere in the world—whether in the ocean, a lake, a sauna, or even at home.

Yoga, Movement & Pilates

Strengthen, Align, and Restore with Confidence.

At The Asa Maia, our yoga, movement, and Pilates classes are designed to build strength, balance, and flexibility while cultivating deeper body awareness. These low-impact practices engage the entire body, ensuring no muscle group is overlooked or underused. Beyond stabilizing your core, they enhance postural alignment, support joint mobility, and even bolster bone density—all while placing minimal stress on the body.

We offer twice-daily complimentary yoga and movement classes led by our in-house instructor, Daniela Ribiéro. With her guidance, each practice is tailored to meet you at your level—whether you are seeking gentle alignment or a more dynamic challenge.

For those wishing to deepen their practice, The Asa Maia offers Mat, Reformer, and Cadillac Pilates—all available under Daniela’s expert instruction.

Spa Treatments

Restore, Indulge, and Renew.

The Asa Maia’s spa menu blends ancient healing traditions with modern techniques to relax the body and uplift the spirit. From soothing massages and Gua Sha detox therapies to radiant botanical facials and non-chemical treatments, each experience is tailored to your needs.

Delivered by skilled therapists with intuitive care, our treatments provide the perfect sanctuary to release tension, restore balance, and leave you feeling renewed.

Wow! Relaxing to the point where you have zero responsibilities except thinking about what wellness course you want to take next. Elegant minimalist design which goes far beyond beautiful colors. Natural materials, not a piece of plastic in site. Unique qualities everywhere like the sauna and cold pool (I won’t give away how impressive this is), the walkways to your hut, and the upcycled materials used for construction. Definitely the best hotel experience I have had. Took me some time to get used to having everything taken care of and not having to lift a finger. Wish I stayed longer.

Could not believe how welcoming the staff makes you feel and how unburdened they appear by every request. We met the owners and they were so passionate about the place.

Real Experience From Our Guests

Lea Montini

I spent five wonderful days at The Asa Maia in Uluwatu at the beginning of the year, and it was the perfect first destination in Bali. The resort feels like a true oasis, beautifully set within the landscape and blending traditional elements with a modern, mindful design.

I stayed in a private house, originally a restored traditional Javanese Gladak, which has been carefully reassembled and thoughtfully modernized. The use of natural materials such as wood and stone, combined with contemporary comfort, made the room incredibly cozy, comfortable, and special.

The hotel offers an excellent breakfast and wonderful complimentary activities in the spacious yoga shala. Everything at Asa Maia revolves around mindfulness, health, and enjoying the present moment — a truly inspiring and grounding way to start the new year.

A great wellness hidden spot

behind the main drag of uluwatu
We stayed here for our first stop of our Bali honeymoon, the hotel was really intimate, well designed and with 5* staff and facilities.

We did morning yoga which was really enjoyable, hot/cold therapy (which we were expertly guided through in a small group which we loved) and breath work which again was really interesting & enjoyable. All these, combined with a well equipped gym and leisurely breakfast gave us a great start to each day of our stay.

We sadly had really bad weather for 3 days of our stay, and so it made the short 5min walk to the high street a bit more difficult (lots of big puddles) but the hotel did put on a shuttle service which helped. The last day of our stay was sunny and it totally transformed the hotel and we saw a few of the other guests around the pool.

The cabin rooms are really well designed, but don’t have much natural light or views from the windows, which creates a cocoon feel (but in the rain makes it a little dark). But there is lots around in uluwatu to see, beaches, beach clubs, restaurants etc, so you can very easily get to these.

A good stay for those interested in wellness and design, lacking views but the nature and jungle like setting are still really good!

A beautiful and comfortable location that provides you the ultimate Bali experience. The staff was very helpful and polite. The food was not only delicious, but very healthy and nourishing as well, made out of clean ingredients! I also got a spa treatment which was just amazing and beyond my expectations 🙂 looking forward to staying here again

Next level, unique Retreat Experience.

So glad I went, and will go back!
You can see how incredible the architecture, furnishing & atmosphere is from the Photos. So I shall detail the other brilliant thing – the people.

The owner and coaches / teachers aren’t just world class in their art, but friendly legends. I felt such genuine connections for the 5 nights I stayed as we hung in Saunas & plunges & around the fire pit. (Meeting good people like this is super valuable for a solo traveller). Plus I learned a tonne and grew as a person, which is what you want on a wellness retreat.

Special Mention – Daniella & her movement classes. I’ve done a lot of calisthenics & Ido Portal training, so I was absolutely thrilled with Daniela’s style of coaching which blend aspects of functional movement & playful patterns with mindfulness & Yoga. She’s also a master with anatomy / physiology & tailored the classes to address the attendees problem areas / habitual patterning. In essence, I was getting a customised class with rehabilitative and long lasting benefits every morning & evening. Considering it was often a small class (2 or 3), this was insanely good value. I would want to come back to just spend more time training with Daniella.

Also – I strongly recommend the Breathwork classes. It was my first time and the experience was more poignant and impactful than I had imagined.
